Welcome to the HE History Hub, a blog that is designed for both tutors and students of History. Here we will discuss the burning issues of the day and the pleasures and perils of teaching History in Higher Education.

The blog has two aims. Firstly, we want to engage with other people delivering history teaching at higher education level. We want to think about our practical experiences in the lecture and seminar room, and in other teaching spaces, and how we can deliver the best learning environments for students in all stages of their university careers, no matter where they’re from and where they’re based. We’re interested in pedagogical theory, practical experiences and where these meet.

Secondly, we want to demystify the teaching experience a bit for students – what do we expect from you? What should you expect from us? How do you best negotiate that transition from school pupil to university student? Why do we make you go to lectures? We’ll be dealing with all of these questions, as well as many others, over the next few weeks and months.

We hope that you enjoy this space and look forward to hearing from history tutors and students everywhere!
